House Progressives Unveil Ambitious 2025 Agenda Centered on Equity and Economic Justice

by Democrat Digest Contributor

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC), representing nearly half of House Democrats, has released its 2025 policy agenda, outlining a comprehensive plan to address systemic inequalities and promote progressive reforms across the United States. The agenda, known as the “Progressive Proposition Agenda,” focuses on labor rights, healthcare, climate change, and other key areas aimed at building a more equitable nation.

The CPC’s agenda is structured around seven core pillars: lowering the cost of living, boosting wages and worker power, advancing justice, protecting the environment, strengthening democracy, curbing corporate influence, and enhancing public education. Specific proposals include raising the federal minimum wage to $17 by 2028, implementing Medicare for All, providing free public higher education, and enacting comprehensive policing reform.

In the realm of labor rights, the agenda advocates for stronger protections for workers, including those exposed to extreme heat, and supports legislation like the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act to expand collective bargaining rights. Healthcare reforms emphasize the establishment of a universal, single-payer system to ensure all Americans have access to quality care.

Environmental initiatives within the agenda aim to address climate change through investments in clean energy and infrastructure, aligning with the goals of the Green New Deal. The CPC also calls for measures to strengthen democracy, such as expanding voting rights and reducing corporate influence in politics.

The release of this agenda comes amid internal debates within the Democratic Party regarding its direction and strategy. Progressive leaders like CPC Chair Greg Casar emphasize the importance of bold, populist policies to energize the base and appeal to a broader electorate. Casar has highlighted the need for Democrats to focus on pro-worker, anti-billionaire economic policies to build a winning coalition ahead of the 2026 elections.

Public support for the CPC’s proposals appears strong. A survey by Data for Progress indicates that many of the agenda’s key policies, such as stronger worker safety protections and increased spending on affordable care, enjoy broad support among Democrats, Independents, and even some Republicans.

As the CPC continues to advocate for its 2025 agenda, its members are positioning themselves as a driving force within the Democratic Party, aiming to shift the policy debate toward more progressive solutions that address the needs of working-class Americans.
